Attracting coffee lovers and tourists alike, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chicago has become one of the most visited spots in the city. But is this place worth the hype or is it just another overpriced marketing ploy? Read along to find out.

The inside of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, taken from the Starbucks website.

Seated on Michigan Avenue, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery is located near many other big attractions in the city, like the Nutella Cafe. Being 35,000 square feet with five floors, the Starbucks Reserve Roastery is the biggest Starbucks in the world. The massive building is lined with glass and radiates opulence, much like a fancy hotel rather than a coffee shop. The grandeur doesn't stop on the outside, the inside of the restaurant is filled with innovative and eye-catching architecture, complete with a rooftop as well. This massive coffee heaven not only has the classic Starbucks brews but also includes a bakery and cocktail bar.

Being a coffee addict myself, a five-story building dedicated to coffee is my version of heaven. I was ecstatic to see that the world’s biggest Starbucks would be opening in Chicago. However, I thought to myself, “is this too good to be true, can this coffee palace live up to its advertised grandeur?” And when I went up to Chicago, I was pleasantly surprised.

Although there was a line, it moved very fast, and the large area inside the restaurant allowed for a pleasant, non-crammed dining experience. Not only was the coffee delicious, but their other pastries were also up to par. The overall experience of having coffee and looking at all the different architecture inside the restaurant and the views of Chicago outside the restaurant really elevated my experience there. Unlike many other popular restaurants in the city, I felt that the Starbucks Reserve Roastery not only delivered with experience and grandeur but also with the food itself.

What surprised me most about the restaurant was its stark contrast to the normal Starbucks chain locations that I frequently go to. There were so many more options in terms of drinks and pastries that I feel like even people who don’t like coffee could enjoy the food. While getting coffee from a local Starbucks chain location is more of a grab and go type situation, having coffee (or any other drink for that matter) at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery is more of an engaging experience. The food and ambiance of the restaurant complement each other very well and create a warm and satisfying experience for the customer.

I would definitely recommend visiting the Starbucks Reserve Roastery! The food and ambiance of the restaurant are amazing and the overall experience is memorable for sure. Although you might have to wait in line to get in, the short wait is definitely worth the experience of dining at the world's biggest Starbucks.

I have recently become more of a Dunkin' fan, but after reading this article, I have a sudden urge to go to Chicago and check this place out. I have been to a Starbucks Reserve Roastery before and I also noticed how they had many different drink options that you won't see at a local Starbucks. I wish that during my experience, that I would've taken my time ordering and checking the full menu out, however, I felt rushed to order fast since there was a large line behind me. This will for sure be a place that I will be visiting in the near future!
