Spiaggia

Are you an Italian food lover? Are you just dying to spot a celebrity? If you answered yes to any of those questions, Spiaggia might be the place for you to hit up. Noted as one of the best restaurants in Chicago, where even the celebrities dine, Spiaggia promises a delicious Italian meal in a luxury setting, but does it live up to that promise? Read along to find out.

Spiaggia is located right in the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue. It is in one of the most happening places in the city, making it an accessible popular among visitors and locals alike. Defined as an opulent, fine-dining restaurant, Spiaggia combines the warmth of Italian food with the grandeur that you think of when you see Michigan Avenue. The restaurant refines Italian classics and puts a modern spin on them using fresh ingredients and clever plating.

The Michelin-star restaurant that is unique to Chicago offers a tasting menu made up of six courses. The courses change to fit what food is in season to ensure that all the ingredients are fresh. The dishes are a spin on classic Italian appetizers and pastas, whose flavor gets elevated by using the best ingredients. Visitors to the restaurant can choose a la carte items if they don’t wish to order the tasting experience. A wine and dessert menu is also available.

But, what comes with a Michelin-star is Michelin-star level prices. The tasting experience is $115 per person and the a la carte items range from $20-140. Spiaggia is definitely a splurge, but if you are willing to blow a little bank, it is definitely worth it for the ambiance that comes with the delicious food. And if you don’t want to spend that much but still get the Spiaggia experience, you can dine at the Cafe Spiaggia, which is located adjacent to the main restaurant. Cafe Spiaggia uses the same ingredients as Spiaggia but offers a more lowkey dining experience at a lower price. Most items at Cafe Spiaggia are around $20, which is still a little pricey, but for the quality of food you are getting, it is worth it.

All in all, I would recommend Spiaggia if you are willing to splurge a little because it definitely delivers its promise on good food as shown by its Michelin star. And if you want something more laid back, Cafe Spiaggia might be the place for you as it offers just as quality of food at a lower price. So next time you want to treat yourself a little, definitely hit up Spiaggia!
